Online Counselling Canada — Online Therapy & Virtual Sessions with Registered Canadian Counsellors
Secure online counselling, online therapy, virtual counselling and phone sessions with registered, credentialed Canadian counsellors and therapists — CPCA, BCACC and provincial-college members. Award-winning clinic. Same counsellor every session. Per-session pricing. Extended-health receipts provided.
The Advantages of Online Counselling, Virtual Therapy & Phone Sessions Over In-Person Therapy
Online counselling, online therapy and virtual counselling deliver the same evidence-based clinical work as in-person therapy — with meaningful added convenience, flexibility, and access. For many Canadians, virtual sessions are the practical reason therapy actually becomes possible.
No Commute, No Waiting Room
Meet your counsellor from home, your office, or anywhere private. The time you’d spend driving to and from a clinic stays in your day — and many clients find a familiar space supports more open conversation.
Available Across Canada
From British Columbia to Newfoundland and across the territories, we match you with a counsellor whose professional registration covers your province — wherever you live, work or travel.
Evening & Weekend Availability
Because our counsellors work across multiple Canadian time zones, we offer early-morning Atlantic sessions through to late-evening Pacific sessions — including weekends. Sessions you can actually attend.
Phone Sessions When Video Isn’t Ideal
Some clients prefer phone counselling for privacy, comfort, or bandwidth reasons. We offer phone sessions at the same rate as video, and research shows they produce equally strong outcomes for many concerns.
Private & Secure
Sessions run on Jane App’s PIPEDA-compliant Canadian-server video. Nothing is recorded, your file is encrypted, and only your counsellor has access — privacy on par with any in-person clinic.
Couples & Families, Together
Online counselling lets partners and family members join the same session from different locations — supporting consistent attendance for long-distance, relocated, or frequently-travelling clients.

The same depth of work we do in our Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton and Grande Prairie offices — delivered as online counselling, online therapy, virtual couples therapy and phone sessions, securely anywhere in Canada.
Online Counselling, Online Therapy & Virtual Counselling — What’s the Difference?
If you’ve searched for “online counselling Canada”, “online therapy”, “virtual therapy”, or “telehealth counselling” and ended up here — you’re in the right place. These terms all describe the same service. The differences are linguistic and regional, not clinical.
Online counselling vs. online therapy
In Canada the two terms are used interchangeably, with regional preference: BC, Alberta and the Prairies tend toward “online counselling“, while Ontario, Quebec and the East Coast more often say “online therapy“. Clinically they describe the same evidence-based work — a confidential, structured conversation with a registered mental-health professional, delivered remotely.
Virtual counselling, virtual therapy & telehealth counselling
“Virtual counselling” and “virtual therapy” are the corporate-wellness and EAP terminology for the same service — often used by HR teams and benefits providers. “Telehealth counselling” is the broader medical term that includes both video and phone sessions. All three refer to therapy delivered by a registered Canadian counsellor or therapist over a secure connection. Many extended health plans list it under “virtual care” — the receipt we provide works the same way.
Video counselling vs. phone counselling
These describe the format, not the service. Video counselling uses Jane App’s PIPEDA-compliant Canadian-server video; phone counselling uses a regular call. Some clients prefer phone for privacy, comfort, or bandwidth reasons — research shows comparable outcomes for many concerns. We offer both at the same rate.
Online counsellor vs. online therapist vs. online psychotherapist
“Counsellor” and “therapist” are largely interchangeable titles in everyday Canadian usage. The legally regulated distinction is “psychotherapist” (a controlled title in Ontario via CRPO) and “psychologist” (regulated by provincial colleges). Our team holds the CPCA designations of Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC) and Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling (MPCC), plus Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) via BCACC and Registered Social Worker (RSW) via provincial colleges. We do not have psychologists on staff and we do not use the psychologist title.
e-counselling, internet counselling, remote counselling, distance counselling
Less common search terms that mean the same thing — therapy delivered remotely rather than in an office. Whatever term brought you here, the experience and the outcomes are the same: a registered Canadian counsellor, a secure session, a real therapeutic relationship.
Whether you call it online counselling, online therapy, virtual therapy, telehealth, or e-counselling — we can help.

Book with a Registered Online Therapist →Online Counselling in BC — Virtual Sessions Anywhere in British Columbia
Most of our team is registered in British Columbia, so booking an online counsellor in BC is straightforward — whether you are in the Lower Mainland, on Vancouver Island, in the Interior or somewhere the nearest clinic is a long drive away.
Our BC counsellors hold registration as Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, Master Practitioners in Clinical Counselling (MPCC), Registered Professional Counsellors (RPC) and Registered Social Workers (RSW). Online counselling in BC carries exactly the same professional standards, confidentiality and record-keeping as an in-person session.
- ICBC counselling across BC — we direct-bill ICBC, so approved sessions after a motor vehicle accident can be covered with no upfront cost to you, wherever in the province you are.
- BC Autism Funding — we direct-bill BC Autism Funding for eligible families, including virtual sessions.
- Extended health — most BC extended-health plans reimburse counselling with an RCC. We issue a receipt you submit to your provider.
- Evenings and weekends — virtual counselling in BC across three time-zone-friendly clinic teams in Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton.
If you would rather sit in a room with someone, our BC offices are in Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton — and you can mix in-person and online sessions with the same counsellor.
Your BC Online Counselling Team
Our counsellors across the Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton offices are all available for online sessions anywhere in British Columbia.
Online Counselling in Alberta — Virtual Therapy Across the Province
Our Grande Prairie team supports clients throughout Alberta by video and phone, from Edmonton and Calgary to Peace Country, Fort McMurray and the smaller communities in between.
Alberta works differently from BC and it is worth being clear about it. There is no ICBC in Alberta. Instead, online counselling in Alberta is most often covered through Alberta Blue Cross, ASEBP, employer benefit plans and Employee and Family Assistance Programs, and through FSCD funding for eligible families. We provide a receipt for your provider, and where a plan allows direct billing we will tell you before your first session.
- Alberta Blue Cross, ASEBP and employer plans — virtual sessions are treated the same as in-person for most extended-health plans.
- FSCD funding — support for eligible Alberta families, including online sessions.
- Shift and rotation schedules — our Grande Prairie counsellors work with trades, oilfield and first-responder rotations, so appointment times flex around shift work.
- No ICBC — if you were in a collision in Alberta, coverage runs through your own insurer or benefits plan rather than ICBC.
Our Alberta office is in Grande Prairie, and online sessions are available province-wide.
Your Alberta Online Counselling Team
Our Alberta counsellors are based at the Grande Prairie office and available for online and phone sessions across the province.
Simple, Per-Session Rates — No Subscriptions
You pay only for sessions you book. Most extended health benefits in Canada (Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Pacific Blue Cross, Green Shield, Alberta Blue Cross, ASEBP and more) reimburse online counselling when delivered by an MPCC, RPC, RCC or RSW.

Online Counselling, Online Therapy & Virtual Counselling FAQ
Yes. A growing body of Canadian and international research shows online video counselling produces comparable outcomes to in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, couples issues and grief. Many clients also find video sessions more comfortable, more honest, and easier to attend consistently — and consistency is the single strongest predictor of therapy outcomes.
Our online counsellors are registered with recognized Canadian professional bodies — the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) as Registered Professional Counsellors (RPC) or Master Practitioners in Clinical Counselling (MPCC), the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) as Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC), or provincial colleges as Registered Social Workers (RSW). We match each client with a counsellor whose registration scope is appropriate for their province.
Most extended health plans across Canada — including Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Pacific Blue Cross, Green Shield, Alberta Blue Cross and ASEBP — reimburse online counselling when delivered by an RCC, RPC, MPCC or RSW. We provide an itemized receipt with the counsellor’s registration number after every session for you to submit to your insurer.
Interactive Counselling is an established, award-winning Canadian counselling clinic with a named team of registered, credentialed therapists. You select your counsellor based on a published bio, training, and area of practice — and you see the same counsellor for every session. Each clinician’s registration is verifiable on the public registry of their professional association, and our pricing is per-session, not subscription-based.
Yes. Sessions are delivered through Jane App’s PIPEDA-compliant, end-to-end encrypted video platform hosted on Canadian servers. Nothing is recorded, your clinical file is encrypted at rest, and only your counsellor has access.
Absolutely. Many clients prefer phone sessions for privacy or comfort, while driving on a break, or when bandwidth is limited. We offer phone counselling Canada-wide at the same rate as video — and research shows it produces equally strong outcomes for many issues.
Click any Book Now button on this page to open our secure Jane App calendar. Choose your counsellor, select a video or phone session, and pick a time that works for you. Sessions are typically available within 3 to 5 business days, including evenings and weekends across every Canadian time zone.
Yes. Because our online counsellors work across multiple time zones, we offer early morning, evening and weekend sessions Canada-wide — including Atlantic, Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific time. Most new clients are booked within 3–5 business days.
In Canada the terms are used interchangeably. “Online counselling” and “online therapy” both refer to mental-health sessions delivered remotely via video or phone. The terminology preference is regional — clients in BC and the Prairies tend to search “online counselling”, while Ontario and the East Coast more often search “online therapy”. Either way, the work, the credentials, and the outcomes are the same — registered Canadian counsellors and therapists meeting clients securely from a distance.
Yes. Virtual therapy, virtual counselling, online therapy, online counselling, telehealth counselling, e-counselling and remote counselling are all synonyms for therapy delivered by secure video or phone rather than in person. We offer all of these — the only difference is the search term.
Both terms apply to our team. Our clinicians are registered counsellors and therapists through CPCA (as Registered Professional Counsellors and Master Practitioners in Clinical Counselling), BCACC (as Registered Clinical Counsellors), and provincial social work colleges (as Registered Social Workers). We do not have licensed psychologists on staff, so we don’t use the “online psychologist” title — but the clinical work, scope and outcomes match what most Canadians mean when they search for an online therapist.
