Frequently Asked Questions
We Are The Here To Answer Your Questions
When seeking a counselor many clients experience nervousness and have many questions. We have included some answers to the typically asked questions to get you started.
When you walk through our doors, you can expect to be greeted by a respectful, supportive Counsellor who is here just for you. Before your session, you’ll receive your intake paperwork by email. If life gets busy and you haven’t filled it out yet — no problem! You can easily complete it when you arrive.
We understand that coming in for the first time can feel a little intimidating — many people feel that way. But take a deep breath… you’re in good hands. This is what we do every day, and our goal is to make the process as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
During your first session, your Counsellor will take time to get to know you — not just your concerns, but also who you are as a person. You’ll have a chance to share what you’d like to get out of counselling, and together, you’ll start building a plan that’s completely tailored to you and your goals.
Think of it as a conversation, not an interrogation — there’s no pressure to have all the answers or say the “right” things. We’re here to listen, guide, and walk alongside you.
Trust us — counselling often feels far less scary than it seems at first. And by the end of your session, many people leave feeling lighter, more hopeful, and more empowered to take the next step forward.
Every person is different, and it is often dependent on your situation and mental health status.
It is most beneficial for most people to come once weekly, and then bi-weekly, and so forth. We like to say that we like to work ourselves out of a job.
We lay out a treatment plan for our clients and work together every step of the way, so you know the “road” you are going down. Our Counsellors are committed to getting you mentally healthy, strong and equipped to face future struggles, as quickly as possible!
We offer in person, online, and phone sessions. You can call, text, email or book directly online!
Individual Session $165 taxes included per 50-minute individual sessions.
Couples $175 taxes included per 50-minute couples sessions
In most cases your extended healthcare benefits will cover your counselling sessions. Please check your specific coverage as each plan can differ on designation covered, and the number of sessions you would be covered for. In our office we have Registered Counsellors, Registered Social Workers, and a Master of Social Work.
We do not direct bill third party insurance companies but do provide an immediate receipt via email that is easily uploaded to your online insurance portal. Typically, most clients receive reimbursement from their insurance company within 24 to 48 hours.
We do direct bill ICBC and Autism funding.
As a private practice, we do not offer a sliding scale or discounts on our sessions. This is because we strive to ensure clients can access support without long delays — we do not have a waitlist and make it a priority to get people booked in as quickly as possible.
The good news is that most extended health benefits cover our services, which can help offset the cost. We’re happy to provide detailed receipts so you can submit them directly to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Debit and Cash. We do not accept cheque or e-transfer.
We have a strict 48 hour cancellation policy. We require a minimum of 48 hours notice for any cancellation or change to your appointment time, or full fee will be charged.
We require a valid credit card or Visa/Mastercard on file to secure your reservation. Your card will not be charged unless you cancel with less than 48 hours notice or no show to your appointment.
We reserve that time specifically for you and we are excited to see you! So please let us know when you’re unable to make it in.
Alternately, if you are sick, unwell or not able to make it, you can switch to online or phone session.
Our phones and emails are answered Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:00pm PST.
Each Counsellor works different hours, allowing flexibility for our clients. Our Counsellors are available as early as 8:00am and as late as 9:00pm
No matter your schedule we will be able to accommodate you. Which means no excuses to not take care of your mental health!
