Our approach
Registered counsellors
Every counsellor on our team is registered with BCACC, BCCSW, ACSW or CPCA — your assurance of credentials, ethics and ongoing supervision.
Evidence-based therapy
We blend CBT, EMDR, EFT, the Gottman Method, ACT, IFS and somatic approaches — choosing the modality that fits you, not forcing a single method.
No waitlists
Same-week availability across all four cities. In-person, online or by phone — book the format that fits your week, not the other way around.
Judgement-free
You don’t need a diagnosis or a crisis to come to counselling. We meet you where you are — practical, warm, and grounded in real change.
Common questions
Do I need a referral to book counselling?
No — you can book directly with any of our counsellors through our online booking system. A doctor’s referral isn’t required for counselling in BC or Alberta.
Is counselling covered by insurance?
Most extended health plans cover counselling with Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC), Registered Social Workers (RSW) or Master Practitioners in Clinical Counselling (MPCC). We provide a receipt at the end of each session that you submit to your insurer for reimbursement. We also offer direct billing for ICBC and BC Autism Funding. For other plans, we’re happy to confirm coverage with you before booking.
How long does counselling take?
It depends on what you’re working through. Some clients book a handful of sessions to navigate a specific challenge. Others come weekly for several months as part of deeper trauma work. We’ll discuss what makes sense for you in your first session — and you’re always in charge of the pace.
What’s the difference between a counsellor, therapist and psychologist?
In Canada, “counsellor” and “therapist” are typically used interchangeably and refer to clinicians registered with associations like BCACC, BCCSW, ACSW or CPCA. “Psychologist” is a protected title in BC and Alberta requiring a doctoral degree and registration with the provincial College of Psychologists. Our team includes Registered Clinical Counsellors, Master Practitioners in Clinical Counselling, Registered Professional Counsellors and Registered Social Workers — we do not currently have a Registered Psychologist on staff.
What if I’m not sure which counsellor is the right fit?
You can browse our full team to read each counsellor’s approach and specialties. If you’d rather have us help match you, contact the clinic for your city — we’ll suggest two or three counsellors whose approach fits what you’re working on, and you can choose from there.
Can I do counselling online or by phone?
Yes. We offer secure video counselling and phone counselling across BC and Alberta. You’ll get the same quality of care as an in-person session — many clients find online counselling more practical for fitting therapy into a working week.
